PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a single-ply commercial roofing membrane best known for one specific strength: chemical resistance. Where it doesn’t fit every building the way TPO or EPDM might, it is often the clear right answer for a specific category of properties.

Where PVC Outperforms Other Membranes

PVC resists damage from chemicals, oils, grease, and animal fats in a way that TPO and EPDM simply cannot match — that resistance is inherent to the PVC formulation itself and does not diminish over time. That makes it close to the default choice for restaurants, food processing facilities, and any building with rooftop grease or chemical exhaust — conditions that cause other single-ply membranes to degrade rapidly.

Like TPO, PVC seams are hot-air welded, creating a monolithic, watertight bond without relying on separate adhesives, tapes, or caulks — a meaningful long-term durability advantage over adhesive-seamed systems.

  • Airports and facilities near jet fuel exposure
  • Any building where chemical or oil exposure is a known, ongoing factor
